John Biggs is author of Tasmania Over Five Generations: Return to Van Diemen’s Land? (40° South Publishing), which is a social history of Tasmania.
He distinguishes five important phases in the development of Tasmania from colonial times to the present day. As it happens, five generations of the Biggs family lived through each of these phases. Using the lives, values and concerns of his forebears John gives a view from the ground up of what it was like to live through these phases of Tasmania’s history.
John, a retired academic, now busies himself with non-academic writing, both fiction and nonfiction.
