Rotary Community Leader 3 - Southern Tasmania

Bert DORGELO

Joined Rotary in 2011 after moving to the Tasman Peninsula to become connected to the community and have a network of friends and associates outside of work. I became Club President in 2013-14 and have been on the club executive since that time. I became a training officer for the district for a time and now have the district role of Vocational Director. I have been Club President for the second time since July 2022 finishing in June 2024. I hold the strong belief that Rotary must evolve to survive and have initiated some changes within our club to assist it to become more relevant and aid the growth and retention of membership.

Professionally I have a career background in education and also in public as well as primary health management, including spending some time in professional development and project management. My career has involved leading change and management within health organisations so they better meet the needs of the community they serve.

I also have always been a volunteer outside of work with Fire Brigades, Service Clubs and on community activity. I currently volunteer with three local organisations. Now in retirement volunteer activity and pursuing woodworking as well as enjoying living by the beach occupies my time.
