School/Club Relationships

During 2016-2017 the District undertook a consultative process with clubs to determine a solution to the age old issue of ‘which club supports which school(s)’.

Resulting from this the district asks clubs to support students from the schools aligned to them.

• The principle here is to have a single club as a point of contact for a specific school.

• That club can enrol support from another club(s) if needed/requested, which is important as some clubs may have had relationships in the past with schools they are not formally aligned to now.

• Similarly, in the past some students may have applied for a single program through several clubs, a drain on resources and time. The purpose of this alignment is to have students apply though their school to the club aligned to their school; which is not necessarily the club nearest to where they may live.

• For some programs the relevant committee may work extremely hard to find and secure students for programs. The advantage of this alignment is that, in these cases, the committees will know which club(s) to approach to support these students.

• As always, the spirit of Rotary cooperation applies. If a club cannot or does not wish to support a student, or maybe several students from the one school (which could involve a large cost), then clearly another club or clubs may step up to help or be approached.

The thing is for clubs to be communicating with their ‘aligned’ schools and building foundations for long term relationships and the ongoing success of our excellent Youth Programs.
