Rotary Tasmania Community Care
The purpose of RTCC is to raise funds via major events and corporate sponsorship to support local care projects in Tasmania which clubs may initiate. Approved projects will respond to an identified local community need, will be sustainable and will require the active and ongoing participation of the beneficiary.

DG DOMESTIC VIOLENCE TASMANIAN PROJECT
Our Rotary Tasmania District Governor Mike Patten has nominated the Campaign Against DOMESTIC & FAMILY VIOLENCE as a project he would like to see implemented in Tasmania this year. This project was initiated 5 years ago by the Rotary Club of Ballina-on-Richmond and is now a Rotary project running across Zone 8 - Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands.
In Australia, DOMESTIC and FAMILY VIOLENCE is disturbingly common. It is one of the drivers of homelessness among women, children, and men.
DOMESTIC and FAMILY VIOLENCE crosses all boundaries, race, age, financial status, education, sex, and the community you may live in.
1 in 6 women and 1 in 16 men have experienced physical or sexual violence by a current or former partner. Alarmingly, on average 1 woman a week and 1 man a month is killed by a former partner.

This Project is a multiyear project, but we need to start this year.
Late November or early December this year is the proposed Multi Nation Campaign of Action where across Australia, New Zealand and The Pacific Islands the plan is to conduct activities such as street walks in communities. For some clubs this may not suit, so alternatively it is suggested you may like to hold a Bike Ride, Swim, Run or a Dinner/ Morning Tea.
DG Mike would like clubs to organise an event in either late November or early December to create awareness and advocate against DOMESTIC VIOLENCE.

District Governors 2022-2023 Gynaelogical Project
Rotary District Governor Bob Calvert has initiated this project to support Tasmanian women living with a gynaecological cancer.
This is a Tasmanian project, with monies raised going towards supporting access to vitally important clinical trials for Tasmanian women living with a gynaecological cancer. They are undertaken by the State-wide Gynaecology Oncology Unit, a small unit based in Hobart that services the whole of the state.
Clinical trials give patients the opportunity to access medications that they may otherwise not be able to access, and are not always fully funded. Research shows that patients who participate in a clinical trial have improved survival. Patients feel valued for participation in a clinical trial and it offers them great hope - hope that they may benefit from the trial but often more importantly, hope that the disease will impact people less in the future.
Virtually every advancement in cancer survival has been made on the back of a clinical trial.
There are 3 major focuses of the project:
1. Awareness
· Raising community awareness of gynaecological cancers
2. Supporting
· Holding special events for patients to help them feel supported
3. Funding
· Raising funds to support the trials through events, and selling badges, beanies and stubby holders with our special logo

Boots on the Ground is a partnership formed between Rotary Tasmania Community Care, Tasmanian Women in Agriculture and Rural Alive and Well in response to concerns about rural Tasmanians' mental health and wellbeing. We are combining our capabilities and expertise with a common purpose of assisting and improving rural Tasmania’s mental health and wellbeing.

The Mental Health Hub Project:
The committee initiated and drove the Mobile Health Hub project where two former public transport buses were transformed into mobile health clinics and handed over to the Royal Flying Doctor Service Tas so they could deliver mental health programs in rural and isolated areas.
